This lesson has been peer reviewed by C2SL participant teachers using the EQUiP rubric.
This unit has an engaging engineering project and the progression of lessons through the unit makes sense. Possible extension would include a field trip to the Marine Hatfield Center in Newport, OR.
A teacher who uses this unit will need to contact the authors for access to their lesson plans, or be prepared to make their own.
Material list includes electric circuits, PVC pipe, motors, and pufferfish controller units.
Thoughts for stronger alignment to NGSS: It is not clear to the reviewers how the standard (gravity) is addressed.
