I disagree about the Lower Primary and Upper Primary tags. This content is not written for that age range. Students would need to have some background knowledge about American History (1850-1880) to understand the significance of these slides. Although it's a valuable resource, it's not appropriate for younger students.
"ABC Plates and Alphabet Wares" activity
---------------------------------------------------------
Interactive "slides" in this presentation include:
*Welcome to Sukeek's Cabin - 3D interactive digital model of the archaeological site
*Who was Sukeek? (The owner of the sharecropper's cabin)
*Interactive "drag and drop" plate fragment activity (must be completed to advance to the next slides)
*About Alphabet Plates
*A slide on which students can input their hypotheses about this plate and its owner (but where do the answers go?)
*Nine links (and two YouTube videos) for further learning
*A couple of discussion questions (when clicked lead to this link: https://apps.jefpat.maryland.gov/neh/18CV426-%20Sukeek%27s%20Cabin%20Finding%20Aid.aspx which provides further information about the Sukeek Cabin Archaeological Site)
*Extension - 3D Slave Cabin with a few bits of embedded trivia
This 3D model and collection of links could be a part of an exploration of sharecropping or daily life after emancipation/Reconstruction. It provides primary sources for more information about daily life for once-enslaved Americans.
