CCSS.Math.Content.3.NF.A.3: Strong (2)
This covers most of the basics. The only detail missing is how they work with different denominators. Perhaps describing the fraction circles and how they are split up.

Quality of Explanation of the Subject Matter: Strong (2)
I thought this presented good opportunities to practice this as a whole class and also in small groups or even at home with measuring cups.

Utility of Materials Designed to Support Teaching: Strong (2)
I felt that the fraction circles are a great start to understanding. I felt that other options could have been presented just so the students don't get it stuck in their head that circles are the only way to think about fractions.

Quality of Assessments: Limited (1)
There doesn't appear to be an assessment put in place to figure out whether or not students are grasping the concept aside from peer work and review.

Quality of Instructional and Practice Exercises: Strong (2)
This exercise presented a few good options. The fraction circles were good. It was suggested that students could find their own ways to discover fractions. And at home parents could show them cooking utensils that use fractions.
This lesson plan is a good foundation of introducing fractions and priacticing fractions. It provides the certain materials that is needed for this lesson, and lots of instructional practices that is good for differentiated learning. It also lists ways to change the lesson to make sure the students can understand factions. The students get together in groups and individually to discuss what they learned after the lesson is completed.

Quality of Explanation of the Subject Matter: Superior (3)
The students are using paper circles and rectangles to see the different shapes and sizes of fractions and how they are compared to each other on a number line from smallest to biggest.

Utility of Materials Designed to Support Teaching: Superior (3)
The lesson plan includes different shapes and sizes of circles and rectangles so the teacher can visually show the students how the different sizes of the fractions are similar and different.

Quality of Assessments: Superior (3)
The students are discussing in groups what they think and know about the fractions, during the lesson they are continuing to expand and make observations on the different fraction sizes while the teacher is asking them questions. When the students are finished with the lesson they are writing in their journals what they learned about fractions.

Quality of Technological Interactivity: Strong (2)
The students are folding their shapes and labeling the fractions which is interactive but I think the students should use more than just those objects to get a better understanding of fractions.
